Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth heated stones of different sizes. The stones are usually made of basalt which is rich in iron and retains heat very well. Before your arrival, the stones are sanitized and heated in water around 135 degrees. Hot stone massage is well suited for people who tend to feel chilly or have cold feet. It is also great for people who have muscle tension but do not like heavy pressure. The heat relaxes the muscles so the therapist can work the muscles without using deep pressure. Hot stone massage also helps with the following health conditions: back pain and aches; poor circulation; osteoarthritis and arthritis pain; stress and anxiety; insomnia and depression.
Sabai(Thai) Herbal Ball Massage
Sabai (Thai) Herbal Ball Massage is one of the fastest growing treatments across North America. It is a method of treatment combining heat compress and aromatherapy. A cloth bag filled with traditional Thai herbs is steamed and then applied directly to the skin to provide a relaxing and invigorating effect on the body and mind. The unique blend of herbs possesses anti-inflammatory properties which help with contusions or sprains; antiseptic properties which can soothe and heal the skin and astringent properties that draw toxins out of the skin. It is also beneficial for many upper respiratory problems including bronchitis, asthma, and colds.
Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy®
Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy® (AOBT) is a deep, compression massage done with the therapist’s feet using the power of the feet and the weight of the body to work the deeper muscle layers. It is performed on a standard massage table on bare skin using cream or oil. Overhead bars are used for balance and to support some of the therapist’s weight when necessary. This massage, while beneficial for all ages and size, is especially suited for people who have thick or well-developed muscles who have trouble feeling the impact of massage given by hand. AOBT is beneficial for tight or painful hamstrings, calf muscles, tight IT band, sciatica, and frozen shoulder. Other benefits include: relief of back pain, elongating the spine and improving posture, improving flexibility and promoting deep relaxation. This massage is not recommended for the following conditions:
Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is an advanced massage technique used to assess, treat and prevent soft tissue injuries and chronic pain. When muscles spasm from overuse or injury, they can put pressure on nerves which can cause pain and tingling in other parts of the body. The therapist will locate and applying constant pressure to these muscle spasms to help restore blood flow and oxygen to the affected muscle. NMT has been found to be effective for the following conditions: low back pain and stiffness; neck pain and stiffness (including whiplash); headaches; sciatica pain, repetitive motion injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome, temporal mandibular joint (TMJ) syndrome, golfer’s elbow and tennis elbow; athletic injuries and numbness and tingling in the extremities (arms, legs, hand or feet).
